For every internet user as well as data-processing service provider, data protection is one of the most essential topics.
At dietzk., we have always presupposed the protection of data as an important key element to our work. In order to increase the presence of this topic in our daily work within the agency as well as in relation to our clients, Johan Langenberg (Senior Content & Production Manager) and Georg Goerlich (Web Consultant) completed a one-week certificate seminar at the Koblenz Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK). Subject matters of the seminar included legal principles in consideration of individual laws (BDSG, UWG, TMG etc.).
But what is data protection about, anyway? What legal provisions have to be taken into consideration when processing project-related data, or making internal and external use of personal data? In the seminar, the participants discussed the protection of data on the basis of real-life cases from different topics and branches of industry and developed solutions by reference to prevailing law. The advantage of this approach lies in a realistic impression of the practical applications of legal regulations.
Seminar instructors were Ms. Terhorst, an experienced attorney specialized in data protection, and Dr. Wiersgalla, a data protection commissioner for various companies. At the end of the seminar, the participants took a four-hour exam to demonstrate their newly acquired knowledge. It goes without saying that our colleagues Johan Langenberg and Georg Goerlich passed the test with flying colours.
